About Afterlight
A love story with one impossible choice.
Afterlight is a small creative studio for making a personal zombie couple video from two portraits. We built it around a simple scene: someone you love has changed, you recognize them anyway, and the story turns on what you do next.
That premise belongs to the playful side of romantic horror. It lets a couple borrow the scale and atmosphere of an end-of-the-world film while keeping the focus on something familiar: the face you know, a gesture you remember, and the person you would still reach for. The result should feel like a tiny story with a beginning and an ending, rather than an effect that merely changes a face.
Human at the center
The relationship carries the scene, even when the setting looks like the end of the world.
Easy to make
Two portraits, clear roles, and a setting are enough to begin.
Care with identity
Use portraits only with the people’s permission, and review the generated video before sharing it.
Why this kind of video works
A short video has only a few seconds to make a viewer feel something. The zombie couple idea works because its conflict is easy to read: fear, recognition, a pause, and a choice. When the survivor opens their arms, the meaning is immediate. A warm memory of the couple gives the final moment its contrast, allowing the scene to land without dialogue or a long explanation.
We shape the generation around that sequence. Your photos guide the identities of two adult characters. You decide which person remains human and which becomes the gently transformed partner. A selected setting gives the scene its atmosphere. The built-in creative direction asks for recognizable faces, natural movement, and a non-graphic approach. AI video remains unpredictable, so each output is an original interpretation, and details can vary from one generation to another.
What you can make here
The studio produces a short vertical video with audio using the configured Seedance video service. It is designed to be easy to preview on a phone and convenient for short-form sharing. The creation flow lives on the home page, where you can upload your portraits, select a scene, and see the price before checkout. We currently offer a one-time $9.90 purchase per video. There is no subscription.
The example video on the home page illustrates the tone we are aiming for, not a promise that your finished film will reproduce its composition, pose, or facial detail. Your video is generated from the photos you choose and the scene direction you select. Review the finished result before sharing it, especially when a likeness or gesture matters to you.
We also want the controls to match the way people actually make a gift or a post. You can start with an idea, browse the available moods, and choose photos before paying. The price is visible in the studio rather than hidden behind a series of steps. Once a purchase is confirmed, you can make your video whenever you are ready. If the provider reports that generation failed, you can try again without paying a second time.
Respect for the people in the picture
A romantic concept does not remove the need for consent. Upload only photos of adults who agreed to take part in a fictional AI video. Please do not upload a stranger, a public figure, a former partner who has not agreed, or anyone under 18. The tool is intended for imaginative, non-graphic stories. It should never be used to impersonate someone, embarrass them, suggest a real event occurred, or create deceptive media.
Uploaded images are not separately run through an NSFW check. The default Kie Seedance 2.5 video request enables its NSFW checker for generated videos. This automated check can make mistakes and cannot guarantee that every possible output will be suitable for every audience.
Made for a simple moment
We chose a focused product because making a personal short film should not feel like learning a video editing suite. There are just two roles and a small set of story settings. You can spend your energy choosing photos that look like you and deciding how you want the scene to feel. If your first thought is “this would make my partner smile,” the studio should get you from that thought to a finished clip without a maze of controls.
Good portraits help. Look for a single visible face in each photo, natural light, and enough space around the head and shoulders. The images do not need to have been taken together. For the best experience, talk through the roles with your partner first and make the final review together. The unexpected mix of suspense and affection is the fun of this format.
We think a good result leaves room for your own interpretation. Some couples will lean into the spooky setting; others will see the video as a lighthearted anniversary surprise or a Halloween message. The scene is fictional either way. What makes it personal is the pair at its center and the meaning you bring to that final embrace.
Our Privacy page explains how account details, uploaded photos, payment events, and optional analytics are handled. We want the process to feel as considered as the finished story: clear roles, clear pricing, and an honest picture of what the technology can do.
